2018 New Year’s Resolution

What is your resolution for 2018?

My resolution is simple… its to continue to work at having a stronger relationship with Christ and increase my faith, to set goals that align with the purpose He has for me, and to maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle that will allow me to be open to having new experiences.

Throughout this year, I’ve learned so much about flexibility.  Not just from a physical sense, but from an openness to life.  To be willing to try something new.   To be willing to give up something that isn’t working.  To be willing to embrace change, because it’s going to happen whether I want it to or not.   It’s about setting goals and working towards them… but also recognizing that there are variables you can’t control so you have to be flexible.

Life is about breathing, about being present, and about being open to “new”.

This year has been so full.  It’s been a great year, and I’m so thankful for every day, every moment of it.  I’ve gained so much that I’d like to share some of the lessons I’ve learned in 2017:

To change, I have to trust Christ fully and have faith.  I have to align my priorities to recognize the areas in my life that need the most work.  I can see clearly that before I was putting the wrong things first, and as a result, my priorities were misaligned.  The consequences of that were harsh, and I need to continue to stay focused on my faith and God’s purpose in my life to have a full life.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

I need to be present.  There are so many experiences and blessings that God will present to us on a daily basis if I’m so confined to my routines and structure, I may miss them…  So I resolve to have moments to look around, scan my body, my mind, my environment…  To take it all in.  To recognize things that are out of balance, and work to regain that balance.  I commit to practicing this action daily, to adjust and modify as needed.  There are no bad choices.  I will continue to feed my soul with positivity and allow my light to shine so I can help others achieve their goals as well.

Psalms 16:11 (NKJV) You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

I am a warrior.  I know how to be diligent and will not squander the time I have but work towards something… even if it’s just to be kind to someone.  I WANT NO REGRETS!  I set goals, I’m not afraid to dream out loud, and I will continue to put one foot in front of the next to make progress.  I can’t move forward if I continue to choose to stand still.  God will give me the power to persevere.

2 Corinthians 4:7-9 (NKJV) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—

I recognize eating healthy is a powerful tool.  There’s truth to the saying “you are what you eat”… our bodies are so complex, that simply counting calories, points, etc. is not enough. I want to make choices that make me feel good.  I want to eat foods that give me the fuel to accomplish my goals.  I want to have a clear head, and to do so I need to have a healthy body.  The quality of ingredients I eat (like the quality of gasoline we put in our cars… Thank you Chrissy!) determines how optimized our performance will be.  I also understand there’s balance, and it’s ok to enjoy tasty treats… but it must be balanced. I control how I feel and how well I perform at work, at home, in life, based on how I fuel my body on a daily basis.  Eating healthy, regardless if I meal prep or not, is essential.  Meal prep is a tool to make eating healthy accessible, but the commitment to eat healthy is up to me.

1 Corinthians 10:31 (NKJV)  Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

I have joy.  I know my “why” and will continue to work to align my actions toward it.  I now understand better what drives me, what I am passionate about.  Only I can make this assessment, therefore only I have the power to make changes to experience fully God’s promise of joy, peace, and love.

Proverbs 16:20 (NKJV) He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.

I have the capacity to love others the way they deserve.  I now recognize I can only fill others cups if my cup is full first.  I have to love myself, and I mean have a real desire to be free… to have a healthy mind, body, and spirit… No more self-sabotage, no more punishment, no more hating myself and the choices I make… No more fear… I know when I do right by God, then I’ll be able do right by others.  If my heart is broken (not dealt with, overcome, and forgiven myself or others for things in my past), then I’m in bondage…  I have to breakthrough these things to move forward in life.  I have to truly love myself enough to forgive and heal, in order to be free.

1 John 4:18-19 (NKJV) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.

I’m so looking forward to all the possibilities that 2018 holds.  I pray you do as well!!!

I’m attaching a collage of pictures from different points this year…  I pray it’s not just the physical transformation you see, but instead the mind, body, spirit re-alignment that’s occurred.  The pictures may draw your attention, but my hope is the scriptures and the lessons learned will touch your heart.

Please stay encouraged, be a warrior, and together let’s live a full, healthy, FIT life!

Happy New Year!!!

My life is busy! It takes a plan, and surrounding yourself with good people to make it all work. I'm constantly searching for new ways to have a healthy balance for myself, and my family. My daily life practice includes meal prep, moving, and finding joy in all that I do.
